Mission/History
Founded in 2001 by a group of 15 residents (including Jim Washburn and Bob Partlow, photo left), Habitat-Powhatan is an independently run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, that solely serves Powhatan County and its residents. The affiliate’s policies/procedures and budget are approved by a board of directors and its work is carried out by a team of staff and volunteers, led by the executive director.
At Powhatan Habitat for Humanity, all who believe that everyone needs a decent, affordable place to live are welcome to help with our work, regardless of race, religion, age, gender, political views or any of the other distinctions that too often divide people. As a matter of policy, Habitat for Humanity International and its affiliated organizations do not proselytize.
